The raw energy of sailing on canvas.
Devon based artist, Summer Jane, is making huge waves among the sailing community. Her work focusses on capturing the energy and excitement of sailing, presenting it on canvas in a contemporary and unique way. She uses a variety of cake spatulas, plastering trowels and rulers to create her striking yet accurate marks. Summer’s work is highly sought after, with a painting proudly hanging in the home of Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal. You may recognise Summer’s work from the official Cowes Week merchandise 2023 produced with MUSTO.
This year, Summer is debuting her sails on sails paintings. She takes sails destined for landfill, stretches them over aluminium frames and creates artwork which can live on and on. She is passionate about giving old sails a new life. She will also be accepting donations of any old sails so please do bring them along if you have any.
