ePropulsion, a pioneering global firm in the sector of electric marine propulsion technologies, has renewed its robust relationship with SailGP, a premier aquatic racing league, for its fourth and fifth seasons. The aim is to further the adoption of green energy solutions across the maritime industry.
Initially established at the onset of SailGP’s second season, ePropulsion’s unwavering backing now extends to new horizons with the core objective of hastening SailGP’s shift to renewable energy. As the “Official Supplier to SailGP,” ePropulsion will furnish its Spirit 1.0 Evo electric outboard motors for SailGP’s event support boats, while its Navy 3.0 Evo electric outboard motors will be deployed for SailGP’s Inspire community outreach programme.
Additionally, ePropulsion’s electric power technologies have been applied to SailGP’s state-of-the-art autonomous race markers. These advanced buoys, powered by ePropulsion Navy 6.0 Evo, are fully electric and GPS-operated, eliminating the need to anchor them, thus protecting sensitive marine ecosystems and cutting down on fuel consumption.
Returning as a key partner for Seasons 4 and 5, ePropulsion will again present its eco-friendly innovations at SailGP’s Race Village. Furthering its involvement with the Inspire community, SailGP’s social outreach and educational endeavour, ePropulsion aims to democratise the sport of sailing for youngsters, irrespective of their ethnicity, gender, or economic background. The company will leverage its technology to educate future generations.
During its third season, SailGP managed to run five out of eleven events completely on renewable energy. Their target is to fully transition to green energy by 2025, both on and off the water. ePropulsion has been instrumental in aiding this global championship’s switch to electric outboard engines, resulting in a 10% average reduction of emissions per event for SailGP’s support fleet. The partnership is set to persistently and intensively focus on raising awareness for sustainable practices and technological advancements.
Danny Tao, Co-founder and CEO of ePropulsion, remarked,
We’re thrilled to announce our continued partnership with SailGP, and to explore further avenues to tackle climate change together. With the help of SailGP, we have identified the key role that sustainable boating plays in the protection of our planet’s fragile marine environment.
The renewed role as a partner of SailGP also offers the unique opportunity to support the Inspire community, to assist with educational programmes that create impact within the local community and most importantly leave a legacy. We are excited to continue sustainability awareness and technological development within the SailGP community.
Tom Verity, Transition and Innovation Manager at SailGP, expressed,
We are delighted to extend our partnership with ePropulsion for a further two seasons, working at the intersection of technology and sustainability to propel a cleaner future for SailGP and the wider marine industry. ePropulsion products have proven themselves across some of our most demanding venues and have been pivotal to delivering our operations sustainably over the past two seasons. We are excited to continue and further integrate its market-leading technologies across SailGP’s operations.
Noted for their high-quality, quiet, dependable, and emission-free products, ePropulsion’s technology, paired with long-lasting batteries and minimal upkeep, has proven to be an optimal choice for SailGP’s support vessels.
