This year marks the return of the competition which was bigger and better than ever before. This prestigious event offers a unique platform for young designers from universities across the country to showcase their creativity and innovation in yacht design.
The competition was held at the Southampton International Boat Show from 16-18 September 2024 in Ocean Hall.
With decades of industry success between them, last year’s panel brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the competition.
This year’s competition introduces two categories for entry: category 1 for 2nd and 3rd year students, and category 2 for Master’s students. A total of 12 places are available, with participants required to hand draw their designs to specific briefs during the two day event at the Southampton International Boat Show in September.

The 2024 Superyacht UK (SYUK) Young Designer Competition has once again delivered a thrilling showcase of talent, creativity, and future innovation. Hosted at the Southampton International Boat Show (16-18 September), this year’s competition, brought together the next generation of yacht designers to compete for top honours in two categories: the Master’s and 2nd / 3rd year divisions.
In collaboration with Sunseeker, Princess, Lami Sports & Events, Thorne Yacht Design, Olesinski, Cockwells, and Oyster, the event concluded on Wednesday, September 18, after two days of intensive effort. The finale featured a dazzling showcase of design ingenuity as the winners were announced on the Foredeck Stage, celebrating those who are set to shape the future of yacht design.
